journal response to "Just walk on by"

Appearance can be very deceiving and sometimes it causes us to be more cautious about who we associate with. People in general have basically steered clear of big men, men with a excessive amount of piercings and tattoos and also select races. Especially after 9/11, Arabs are stopped at air ports and other places to be asked questions just because of how they look.
some think that is is wrong to accuse everyone of a certain rave when that one person may be perfectly harmless. but some people go to far... i have a good friend whose father refuses to let her good friend into his home because he is Arab. Even though he was born in Iran, he was raised in america and he even grew up with the same spiritual beliefs as her family. Simply because of how he looks, he isn't aloud in the home.
I believe that as Americans, we should take precautions, but when we are dealing with people who are clearly not bad people, that is when we need to be more understanding and trusting.
