Blog post #4...My three answers from "The Untouchables" reading

Questions and answers:

#1 According to Kozol, what are the prevailing attitudes toward the homeless?

Response: That they are scum, that they are no better then the rats on the street. they have no place in cities and they need to be 'taken care of'.

#3 In paragraph 38, Kozol says that we are afraid of homeless children. What are we afraid of?
Response: 
 They are afraid that they carry diseases, that they are afraid to touch them, they are afraid of the people they might become.

#5 Has your perception of the homeless changed as a result of this reading?

Response: I believe that most homeless around my town, are homeless because they have mental issues. I feel very bad that there are homeless people that aren't being helped and that are being looked at as hopeless and helpless. Although, some homeless i have talked to are homeless because they want to be, Which is a weird concept, why would they want to be out in the cold or blazing heat looking for food? some have said its because they wont accept social security, they don't want to be around people and that they are afraid of the government.

i had fun with this project because it was very important to me. I worked as a scenic painter for four years, I worked with people I loved and that really took care of me, that respected my opinion and that loved my painting style. my essay is about the trials of set design and painting and why it is so important.

I like where chapter 4 on page 93 said "A personal response essay can also inform your instructor about how you are reacting to a text and the understandings you are taking from it"  it reassures  that the teacher is actually trying to help us grow and wants to know our personal opinions.

In chapter 5 it talks about expressive details. They allow us to put our own two cents and reaction. I love this  about writing, how expressive and free it is. I also liked page 139 where it brings up Description in Corporate Logos. I think how people respond to visual descriptions is interesting and understanding how to give a visual description is vital in writing.

My writing experience so far

I have not really had any English or writing experience so far, due to the fact that i have been home schooled my entire life. 
I have always wanted to write a children's book or a short children's series, but i haven't known where to begin. I'm really excited to start my first English class, but i'm also very scared to write papers and put myself out there.
